It’s 2022 and 512gb is NOT a lot. I got an M1 Air in fall 2020 and decided for 512gb. It was a mistake. Now I‘m thinking about upgrading to the M2 Air and get 2TB instead. External drives are ok for backups but it’s just not the same convenience as internal storage. Just use that workaround if you want to save the money.
