To further gain his support, Cersei has Tommen sign a decree restoring the Faith Militant, a military order under the command of the High Septon with the right to bear arms and dispense justice, for the first time since the reign of King Maegor Targaryen. In the wake of the Sept of Baelor's destruction, Cersei's actions prompt Tommen to commit suicide by plummeting from the Red Keep. Cersei is visibly less shaken by Tommen's death than she is by Joffrey and Myrcella's. The queen calmly observes her son's body before immediately moving to seize the throne. Finally, King Tommen was driven to commit suicide out of grief from the deaths of his wife, extended family, and so many innocents. With his death, Cersei is crowned as the first Queen of the Andals and the First Men since Rhaenyra Targaryen. Jaime returns to King's Landing just as Cersei is taking the throne.
